The Perfect Cream Cheese Frosting Recipe

If you love baking as much as I do, then you know that the perfect frosting can make all the difference in taking a dessert from good to great. And if you’re looking for a creamy, tangy, and absolutely delicious frosting to elevate your cakes, cupcakes, and cookies, then look no further than my cream cheese frosting recipe, which I would go as far as to say is my perfect ‘go to’ cream cheese frosting recipe.

Cream cheese frosting is a classic favourite that pairs perfectly with a variety of desserts. Its smooth and creamy texture, along with its slightly tangy flavour, makes it a versatile frosting that can complement both sweet and savoury treats. Whether you’re topping a carrot cake, red velvet cupcakes, or cinnamon rolls, this frosting is sure to impress.

To make this cream cheese frosting, you’ll need just a few simple ingredients: cream cheese, butter, powdered sugar, vanilla extract, and a pinch of salt.

Once your cream cheese frosting is ready, you can use it to frost your favourite desserts or store it in the refrigerator for later use. This frosting can be easily customized by adding in different flavours or colours, such as lemon zest, cocoa powder, or food colouring.

So the next time you’re looking for a delicious frosting to take your baked goods to the next level, give this cream cheese frosting recipe a try. Your taste buds will thank you!

Ingredients

  • 100g salted butter

  • 200g icing sugar

  • 100g cream cheese

  • vanilla extract, a small capful or about 5 drops if its a strong one!

Method

  1. Add the butter to the mixer straight from the fridge bit by bit . When all the butter is in, put the whisk to medium and leave it go for 3-5 minutes. You’ll notice that it will change from yellow to white.
  2. Add the icing sugar slowly and a drop of the vanilla (you’ll need to cover the bowl unless you want a huge sugar cloud!)
  3. Add the rest of the vanilla and the cream cheese and carry on mixing

I’ve added my video below as I was talking this through with a few friends and just found sending them a video easier. I hope this helps you too. Please comment below if you give it a go
