HIGH TEA AT HOME

This year is a little different to a normal birthday for a couple of reasons.
The last few years have consisted of drinking silly amounts of rosé with my husband and friends or going away for a little trip.
This year we have our daughter and we are in lockdown. And I’ve started a blog. Hurray!
My actual birthday isn’t until Monday but today we had a surprise knock at the door from our local cafe, Pennau Crafts.
It was a lovely surprise from my friend Sophie. An afternoon tea at home. I thought what better way to start my blog than to write a little summary of what we received.

The Afternoon Tea

The Afternoon Tea
The tea arrived in a large cake box with a doily underneath and  green paper napkins. It also came with a little teabag incase you didn’t have one at home which I felt was a really nice touch. Everything was wrapped really carefully and was a lovely surprise when you opened it up.
Delicious (from back) scone, custard and fruit tart, meringue and quiche
All the components were super fresh and home made. The fruit on top was really juicy and delicious and you could tell everything was very recently out of the oven and the cream freshly piped.
Propper Cornish cream always gets my seal of approval
The sandwiches were great flavour combinations ; egg mayo, turkey stuffing & cranberry,
ham and mustard and cheese and chutney. Classics!
Crumbs! It’s almost gone!
I am not a slow eater and this is the same when it comes to pretty food. I really should slow down and savour. But it was too good. Luckily Mark reminded me to take some photos so I got this one just in time.
Cake mountain
By this point I had sipped a good amount of the Prosecco and was very much enjoying. These beautiful cakes were lemon and a thick almost brownie textured chocolate cake. I also finished with a scone.
Jam first, cream second of course.
This is all now in my tummy

So there is was. A beautiful at home cream tea. I would usually like to write a price as it is a review but as it was a gift, I feel it would be rude to find out! However, if you want to look on the website for Pennau Craft & Coffee Shop and send them a message, I’m sure they would be happy to help.

We were very grateful recipients and it really brightened a rainy lockdown afternoon.
