Mummy Sausages: Wrap, Roll and Revel in the Delight of Halloween.

In the realm of spooky snacks, the debate between Mummy Sausage Rolls and Halloween Hot Dogs is a hauntingly delicious one. As a lover of Halloween snacks, I delve into the art of creating eerie edibles perfect for your Halloween gathering.

Let’s start with the timeless classic: Mummy Sausage Rolls.

I made these Mummy Sausages this week with my two children (2 and 4) and when they were served up there were shrieks of delight and I think, horror! My tip would be to remove the pastry a good ten minutes before you start baking and make sure you drain and dry the sausages.

I baked mine in the centre of the oven on a baking sheet and allowed to cool quite a bit before eating.

I would also say wait a little while before adding the cheese eyes! You can, but they look quite horrifying as they melt…

Lots of people have added candy eyes, which are a great idea for longevity, but add an extra expense if you don’t have any in.

For full details, my recipe for Mummy Sausages are below;

  1. Preheat your oven to 180°C and prepare for a wrapping adventure to make these spooky mummy sausages.
  2. Embrace your inner artist as you skillfully encase drained hotdogs in pastry strips, crafting a mummy-like appearance that is sure to captivate your guests.
  3. For a crispy finish, a generous egg wash before baking will yield golden mummies in just 18 minutes.
  4. To bring these mummies to life, adorn them with cheese slice eyes, a touch of mustard, and ketchup for a burst of flavour.
  5. For an extra spooky touch, top them off with cheese pyramids to elevate the spook factor.

Though I cannot claim originality for this spine-chilling Mummy Sausages recipe, I assure you it is a crowd-pleaser that will have your Halloween party guests raving. Give it a try and let me know if these mummy sausage rolls have you entangled in their delectably haunting appeal.
